Breath

Breath is foundational to our health, yet many of us have developed bad habits that lead to poor breathing patterns. We don’t use the full capacity of our lungs, and we get stuck in shallow, fast breath patterns that keep our bodies in an over-activated state. Even mild breath dysfunction can cause or contribute to:

  • insomnia

  • anxiety and chronic stress

  • sleep apnea and snoring

  • fibromyalgia and chronic pain

  • brain fog/attention problems

  • asthma

We can retrain your unconscious breathing patterns to better support your body. When your breath is restored to its natural depth and rhythm, your body will rest and repair itself. This in turn will help you find less discomfort, more energy, and a clearer focus.

What to Expect

The foundation of my breathing program is the Buteyko Method. Buteyko is a proven methodology for re-training unconscious breath patterns and establishing functional breathing habits.

Sessions consist of a series of breathing exercises that address the biochemical, biomechanical and cadence of breath that will incrementally change your breath volume and rhythm.

How Many Sessions?

A series of six sessions is usually enough to notice a change and feel confident to manage and improve your symptoms on your own. In fact, most people notice a change in their symptoms within a few days of practicing the exercises.

People who have very impaired breathing (long COVID, COPD, CFS) may need to go at a slower pace and may take longer than six sessions.

What Equipment Do I Need?

None. For online classes, you will want room to stand up and walk around, but I don’t need to see you walking on camera.

What Should I Wear?

Street clothes are fine. You will be most comfortable if your waistband is not restrictive.
